Helen Preece

Helen Preece is a CIMA qualified accountant who has been with The Financial Management Centre since 2009. She runs the Haywards Heath office as well as one in Brighton.


Helen first came to TFMC after being made redundant. Her previous job allowed her to work from home one day a week, which was a major advantage as she had 2 young children.  The thought of having to attend job interviews and try and negotiate work-from-home-days with potential employers is something that didn’t appeal to Helen. She wanted a job with the flexibility that allowed her to take her kids to school and attend their school nativity performances, sports days and assemblies. After exploring her options, she decided that franchising could be the career move she was looking for, thus opening her first branch in Haywards Heath.

When it came to renewing Helen’s franchise agreement in 2014, Helen was toying with the idea of expanding her business. In spring of 2015, Helen took the plunge and opened her second TFMC branch in Brighton and has never looked back.


Prior to her venture with TFMC, Helen was used to the day-to-day tasks of an accountant, sitting behind a desk, sorting reports out, responding to queries and everything else that comes with the job. Once she had acquired her first franchise, she was able to focus on the skills she was already good at as well as gaining new ones in areas such as HR, sales and marketing.

During her training week, she attended an event held by a local company where she was given the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals. Helen soon realised the number of networking opportunities that TFMC could provide her with and took great advantage of this. During her first few months she attended over 20 different events and acquired many clients that she still looks after over five years on!

Helen found the first two years the toughest, as she had to get up and go and find the clients herself. The support she received during this time from both TFMC and fellow TFMC franchisees helped her massively. She’s been able to work alongside local TFMC franchisees to help promote their successful marketing campaigns in magazines and at local business exhibitions.

As I have taken on more clients and developed my business, I have been able to take on staff to help me as well as having the support of the other franchisees and Franchisor.
